Aims of the course:

The course aim is to provide the students with the overview and capability of orientation in the logistics services trading relations, related legal framework, market parties´ authority and liability, operational relations and used transport technologies. The module introduces the students to the operation of present day supply chains including the factors of their performance from local, regional and global perspective. The module focuses on strategic management and governance of supply chain from logistics services providers´ and their customers´ viewpoint. The module deals with the current business requirements in the field of logistics services. Besides, it focused on their coherence with the business strategy addressing current and future supply chain challenges.

Learning Outcomes and Competence:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. define key issues within particular modes of transport
  2. understand and explain contractual, responsibility and liability in the field of transport modes and forwarding services
  3. assess technological processes applied in different transport modes,
  4. analyse business and supply chains environment
  5. identify key external and internal factors affecting supply chain design and performance
  6. define logistic objectives and strategies based on the supply chain modelling and its configuration in regard to its required performance (quality and costs),
  7. apply suitable planning methods enabling efficient demand planning and material-based flow management within supply chain,
  8. optimize supply chain processes and supply chain relationships,
  9. design the information flow improvements within supply chain by implementation or adjustments of automatic identification and data sharing,
  10. define the assigned supply chain matter, its key objectives and select the right strategy for their achievement.

    2. Positioning and role of third-party logistics providers in e-commerce
    3. Key role of carrier in regard to purchasing and sales in international trade
    4. Logistics and viewpoint of state organization
    5. Best practice in logistics – viewpoint of Czech family business
